Abstract

Primary patellar tendon rupture is a rare condition that mainly affects young active adults. Even less frequent, it is the chronic or recurrent rupture of the patellar tendon, and the latter one is the one presenting a greater technical difficulty when performing the surgical treatment. The objective of this work is to present a case where the surgical reconstruction of the knee extensor mechanism is performed through the use of an allograft. This is after three failed surgeries to repair the patellar tendon after suffering a traumatic injury. Both the surgical technique and the rehabilitation protocol are described.
